A considerable volume of supplications has been issued by the Shiite Imams (AS); with a little reflection, it is evident that they (AS) also used the method of supplication as a teaching method; the present study, based on the descriptive-analytical method, is organized around two questions:
- Why was teaching the principles of belief important for the Shiite Imams (AS)?
- Which principles of belief were presented by relying on the method of supplication?
The method of supplication is not only used as a way to pray and establish communication with the Creator of the universe, but by reflecting on the contents of the supplications received from the Shiite Imams (AS), we can reach the fact that they (AS) also used this method for the purpose of education and training; and in the meantime, teaching the principles of belief was also a priority for them, considering the needs of society, and especially the emergence of deviations in belief and innovations that dominated the Islamic world after the death of the Messenger of God (PBUH). The five principles of Imamiyyah belief, namely monotheism, piety, imamate, divine justice, and resurrection, are taught through supplication. For example, in the principle of imamate, issues such as the divine appointment of the Imam, the infallibility of the Imam, the knowledge and authority of the Imam are taught through supplication, or in the principle of justice, issues such as legislative justice, creational justice, and penal justice are also discussed.
