Fudhayl ibn Iyadh, one of the prominent figures in Islamic history, is considered a unique model in Islamic thought due to his remarkable combination of qualities in hadith sciences, moral upbringing, and promoting unity. This study focuses on the personality of Fudhayl, examining his role in ethical and spiritual education, his status in Sunni and Shia hadith sources, and his influence on the rapprochement of Islamic sects. In today's world, which faces moral crises, religious disputes, and the need to strengthen Islamic unity, revisiting figures like Fudhayl can inspire efforts to enhance ethics and unity.
The research questions revolve around how Fudhayl's moral and educational teachings are reflected in society, his position in hadith and biographical sources, and his role in fostering Muslim unity. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the study examines Fudhayl's biographical reputation in credible sources, collects and categorizes his narrations from prominent Sunni and Shia hadith collections, and analyzes some of his ethical and unifying traditions based on hadith commentaries.
The findings show that Fudhayl's teachings, closely aligned with the principles of Imam Sadiq (AS), emphasize values such as constructive envy (ghibtah) as a factor for personal growth while avoiding jealousy, reliance on God, and compassion for others. These teachings play a significant role in moral and social development. As a moral mentor and unifying figure, Fudhayl's emphasis on values such as empathy and social justice provides a solid foundation for reducing conflicts and strengthening Muslim unity.
