Stinginess, as one of the moral vices, was mentioned in Imam Reza's hadiths. It has a profound effect on people's insights as well as their actions, so defining an Islamic lifestyle for individuals and society depends on avoiding this vice. In this regard, the role of religious teachings in Islamic training and avoiding stinginess is the matter of importance. Thus, the article seeks to study Imam Reza's hadiths about stinginess and apply a content analysis to extract and categorize the statements on the issue from his hadiths. In addition, I review the aims and moral training methods of Imam Reza (AS) on stinginess. In this way, I would present a comprehensive model to show that there is a comprehensive system in Imam Reza's moral thoughts, which has efficiency in guiding societies. In fact, Imam Reza (AS) particularly spoke about the effects of stinginess. The most important effects of stinginess from his viewpoint are: not going to paradise, impiety, disgrace, and calamity. Also, he believed that stingy is a person who neglects his religious duties. According to Imam Reza's views, greed and temptation of remaining poor and needy are the important reasons for being stingy. His ultimate aim of speaking about the stinginess is to present a moral training. And in order to do this, he applied the two methods of reminding and warning.
